Our Principle Acts are made up of sound projects backed by the volunteer efforts of DNR.
Night Tennis
A self-described “Dreamviolence” band, Night Tennis draws sonic inspiration from artists such as Orchid, Deafheaven, I Hate Sex, and Stevie Ray Vaughan (iykyk). The group began as a three-piece in June 2024 and underwent constant lineup changes until October 2024, when it settled as a five-piece—and has remained unchanged since. Night Tennis’ music explores themes of existentialism, folklore, and addiction.
Kill The Snakes
Coming from the third coast Houston, Texas. Kill The Snakes is a 4-piece powerviolence/hardcore punk band stemming inspiration from early Trash Talk, Magnum Force, Sinister Feeling, Spine and classics like Crossed Out and Charles Bronson. Covering lyrical themes like self hate, depression, physiological trauma and me vs the world mentally. Pounding drums, ferocious guitar riffs, dirty bass breaks and vocals that carry nothing but despair and anger. Kill The Snakes is a positive attitude band in the most darkest form. "I wrote a song I hoped the world would hate as much as I hate myself today"
GBD
GBD is a Kansas City post-punk 4 piece who have raw energy with an eclectic edge. Fronted by Kayla (vocals) with Jesse Dummermuth (guitar), David Lassman (bass) and David Walker (drums), they live out their values of authentic artistic expression, building community and indigenous solidarity. GBD aims to build with their KC community and beyond, continue to release new music and give unforgettable live performances.
PSSG
An experiment in improvised and unabridged musical recording. PSSG is focused on the construction of impenetrable walls of sound and crushing sonicscapes.
Jezebel
Jezebel is a sludgecore band from Columbia, Missouri that aims to disturb and leave an impact. Drawing from powerviolence, sludge metal, crust punk, noise rock and hardcore with vocals that resemble the sound of a woman being stabbed with a knife with a instrumentation that represents the impending march of total fucking doom.
Vicar Amelia
Trans. Skramz. Girlband. vicar amelia formed in Lawrence Kansas at the end of 2024 with Wednesday on guitar, Carol on bass, Cassie on drums, and Verena on vocals. A blend of 90s and early 2000s skramz and emo, with a touch of “meathead” metal. Reviews include “the most punctual band” and “—bill themselves as trans screamo… which they were.”
